We’re delighted to welcome Daniel Komesaroff and Kawshalya Manisegaran to Southside Justice as secondees. Both bring a wealth of experience and deep commitment to social justice.
Dan joins us on secondment from MinterEllison, where he is a Senior Associate. Over the course of his career, Dan has worked across community legal centres, pro bono practice and the corporate legal sector, including roles with Justice Connect, the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, and MinterEllison’s Pro Bono and Community Investment team.
Dan has extensive experience working alongside individuals and communities facing barriers to justice, with a particular focus on housing and the social justice issues affecting First Nations communities.
As a local resident, Dan is especially passionate about the issues affecting the communities Southside Justice serves.
“I am especially looking forward to contributing to Southside Justice’s work on issues that have a direct impact on Melbourne’s south-east, including family violence, the rights of sex workers and the growing challenge of housing scarcity.”
He added:
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work alongside Southside’s clients and staff to support the organisation’s commitment to community-led and accessible legal services.”
Kawshi joins Southside Justice from Barry Nilsson, where she works as National Pro Bono Manager. A proud first-generation immigrant who left behind civil war, Kawshi’s personal journey has shaped her unwavering commitment to legal empowerment, access to justice and social equity.
Her career has spanned private practice as a commercial and construction lawyer, the community legal sector, and government, culminating in her current role supporting community legal organisations across Australia through Barry Nilsson’s pro bono program.
Reflecting on her secondment, Kawshi said:
“For years I’ve been incredibly impressed by the work that Southside Justice does, and the way they do it, and I’m so thrilled to be joining the team as a secondee.”
