REACHher

REACHher: Recover, Empower, Advocate, Collaborate, House

REACHher is a partnership between Southside Justice, Peninsula Community Legal Centre (PCLC), and South East Community Links (SECL). The program is dedicated to helping women rebuild their lives after family violence and work toward long-term financial independence through securing fairer property settlements.

Securing housing through an integrated model

Family violence is a leading cause of housing insecurity, with economic abuse often at its core. Women subjected to this abuse face severe financial barriers – limited savings, poor credit history, accumulated debt, and systemic exclusion from home ownership. These factors create a cycle of disadvantage and instability.

The REACHher model seeks to address this through:

  • Legal services specialising in family law, property settlement and economic abuse
  • Financial counselling addressing debt management, financial safety and emergency relief
  • Capacity building through coaching, life skills and goal planning
  • Housing advocacy with decision makers promoting fairer policies and products

This initiative has been made possible through the Victorian Legal Services Board + Commissioner Legal Services Board Grant Program.
