Southside Justice is formally opened

After a long journey, we formally opened our new office on 4 May 2023.

Following a moving Welcome to Country by N’arweet Dr Carolyn Briggs and Smoking Ceremony by David Tournier, the Honourable Mark Dreyfus KC MP officially opened Southside Justice.

We thank the many friends and supporters in attendance, including Zoe Daniel – MP for Goldstein, Heather Cunsolo – Mayor of Port Phillip Council, Fiona McLeay – Commissioner & CEO of the Victorian Legal Service Board + Commissioner, Tania Wolf – President of the Law Institute of Victoria, Louise Glanville – CEO of Victoria Legal Aid and Louisa Gibbs – CEO of the Federation of Community Legal Centres.

We also acknowledge the presence of Deborah and Barbara, family of Roberta Perkins. Roberta was a trailblazing advocate for trans and sex worker rights. In honour of Roberta’s life’s work, we have called one of our meeting rooms in her name.

Our new office would not have been possible without the generous support of the Just World Group, Victorian Attorney-General Jaclyn Symes and Josh Burns, MP for Macnamara

The Southside Justice office is a vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive space for staff, our partners, and most importantly, the people we work with to increase access to legal support and progress social justice.

Our office is located at 118A Carlisle St, St Kilda, directly opposite the St Kilda Town Hall and next to the Salvation Army. If you’d like to visit us or need a meeting space (up to 8 people), please reach out.
