Pre-budget submission to secure the Sex Worker Legal Program’s future

After 50 years of providing legal support to sex workers, and two years since receiving specific funding to do this work, we are calling on the Victorian government to invest in further support of this trusted, cost-saving program.

We are currently engaging with politicians on our 2025-26 pre-budget submission for the Sex Worker Legal Program.

In the almost 2.5 years since the start of the program, we have:

– Delivered over 330 legal services to uphold the rights of sex workers
– Deepened our trust and reach within the sex worker community
– Strengthened our specialist legal knowledge to quickly issue-spot and advocate effectively

We are seeking 4 years of support from the Victorian government to continue to build our program, which includes enhancing our partnership with peer organisation Vixen through embedding a peer worker.

We believe that an adequately resourced, free to access legal service remains essential to sex work decriminalisation in Victoria. We’d like to extend our deepest thanks to the 27 CLCs, community and peer organisations who agree, and who came on board as signatories of support for our submission.

We look forward to discussing the submission with many more supporters in the coming weeks and months. Thank you to Minister Danny Pearson for being amongst the first to receive a copy.
