Who We Assist

Our free legal services are mostly for people living in Port Phillip, Stonnington, and Bayside who are referred to us by an organisation in our Partners in Place program.

We also run Victoria’s dedicated legal service for sex workers, known as the Sex Worker Legal Program. This service is available to all sex workers living anywhere in Victoria. Please follow the link below to access this service.

Referral Process

Eligibility

Are you living on a low-income (i.e. Centrelink eligible)?

Are you receiving support from a social service organisation in Port Phillip, Stonnington or Bayside?

You may be eligible for our free legal services.

Areas of law we help with

We generally help eligible clients with the following legal problems:

  • Tenancy issues
  • Fines
  • Debt
  • Family violence / Family law
  • Minor crime
  • Victim support
  • Discrimination
  • Complaints

If we are unable to assist with your area of concern, we will refer you to the most appropriate service.

How to be referred

Most people are referred by a worker from an organisation in our Partners in Place program. If you are connected to a service, please ask a worker to make a referral on your behalf.

If you are not connected to a service but think you may be eligible for our help, please contact Victoria Legal Aid on 1300 792 387.

If you are eligible, Victoria Legal Aid will send through your details, and we will be in contact to arrange a legal advice appointment for you.

Unfortunately, we are unable to triage enquiries in-person at our St Kilda office. All in-person enquiries will be directed to the Victoria Legal Aid phoneline.
